The Jailer's Son No Patience is Book #4 of The Jailer's Son series action adventure westerns.
Maxwell leaves the familiarity of the Old West to search for Patience in San Francisco.
Following a nearly year-old trail of clues, Max heads West to find Patience. He knows little more than the fact that her disappearance is linked to Jaw-Long’s daughter, who was killed in Plankville.
Max gets some unexpected, and mostly unwanted, company on the train to San Francisco Raoul, Ambrose, and Nadia Rose and the mysterious baby who may belong to Liling. Each of them has a reason to go to San Francisco, but one of them may be directly tied to Patience's abduction.
The trip West proves eventful. Max meets a little girl who just might be the "daughter" that was foretold for him, Nadia Rose and the baby disappear, and an assassin nearly takes Max's life.
Max reaches San Francisco in one piece only to realize that his troubles have just begun, and that getting to the bottom of an ever-growing list of questions may be impossible because each question seems to create another one.
San Francisco is a huge city; Max will need help if he is to locate and free Patience. But who has his best interests at heart, and who only wants to further their own plans?
However, the most important question might be If Max does find Patience, will they be able to turn back the hands of time and pick up where they left off, or were all his troubles for naught?

I just learned that S.A. Ferkey has sadly passed away. The announcement is on his Authors page. Shame he didn't complete this series before his death, but one never know when The Lord will take them. RIP Mr. Ferkey, you were an excellent writer.Prior review:
I waited 3 days to review this, because I've been in shock. NO ENDING!! What?! Really? AGAIN?!
First, I love all the Jailer's Son books, & everything S.A. Ferkey has written. But, these cliffhangers are beyond any I have run across. Patience might as well have been left tied to railroad tracks, with a train coming at her.

The Jailer Son No Patience edition by S A Ferkey Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
(This was a book downloaded for my 90 year old grandfather, he is using my kindle. always asking for more books, never complains about what he read, always "yea that was a good book." he just likes to read.)
I was really looking forward to this book and was a bit disappointed. Of course the prior books were outstanding. This one involved lots of running around San Francisco and near site-tings, but there wasn't any real depth to the story like the previous books. There were red herrings, like a disappearing baby that didn't make sense. And the ending felt abrupt and I felt cheated.
I'm not giving up on the series however, because I think it's a good one.
I want a refund. Story dragged like a wounded animal struggling to make it to water's edge. Plot twists until the story line is completely unrecognizable. Terrible, abrupt ending like there was a time limit. It is clear the goal was to somehow drag this story kicking and screaming into another book even if it required parlor tricks like look alikes. Disappointing.
The book (series) is well written from my perspective, the grammar and style are easily read. My complaint is that the book (s) are more soap operas and there is no ending. I have read five of the books (I believe that is all available) and like the perils of Pauline the ending leaves one hanging. I prefer a finished text, and if the book is well written with a sound style I will follow the story. The author got five books sold, but I’m going back to the Sackett series!
Four books, and the gypsy gets the girl?? Seriously? No book 5? So many threads hanging, like the author got tired of writing and just chopped it short. I wouldn't recommend anyone invest their time in reading four books only to get short-changed at the end.
I feel that to be a good author you must finish a series if you start one. This series did not fill the bill. The stories them selves were good but the last one did nothing to close the series. That is the reason for the poor overall rating.
this is not a remarkable book but it is entertaining as part of a series. unfortunately, this particular sequel was not finished before it was published. Left the reader hanging in mid -air. It's ok to set up the next chapter. It's not ok to leave too many unresolved issues when the next sequel is not yet available and who knows when it will be.
